Northern Dogs App

Thank you for your interest in adopting a Northern Dog from IFAW’s (International Fund for Animal Welfare) Northern Dogs ProjectAll the dogs for adoption through the Northern Dogs Project come from First Nations communities with whom IFAW partners.

This application is used as the basis for finding the most suitable placement for each dog based on his/her temperament and lifestyle preferences, as well as the best match for your lifestyle and preferences. Thanks for taking the time to share with us so that we can find the best home for each deserving dog.

For more than 20 years, IFAW’s Northern Dogs Project has been partnering with First Nations communities to assist them in developing humane dog management programs that are unique to the challenges of each community. The Northern Dogs Project provides veterinary clinics, youth education, bylaw implementation, workshops, capacity building and dog rehoming in order to improve dog health and welfare and ultimately, community health and wellness. IFAW recognizes the ongoing impacts of colonialism and intergenerational trauma on Indigenous Peoples in Canada. The Northern Dogs Project works with communities to build programs that are relevant, contextual and respectful of people and dogs living together.
